* Minimum includes $675 uniform allowance
* Maximum includes 10% Ed incentive, and a $675 uniform allowance

About the PositionCommunity Services Officers may be assigned to one or more of the following areas:
Records, Investigations, Property & Evidence, Crime Prevention, Patrol, Traffic, Crime Analysis, Parking Enforcement, or Code Compliance.
Community Services Officer I: This is the entry level class in the Community Services Officer series. Employees perform routine tasks with more direct supervision and guidance.
Community Services Officer II: This is the journey level class within the Community Services Officer series. Employees at this level receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This level is well versed in the operating procedures and policies within the assigned work unit.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSCommunity Services Officer I:
This is the entry level class in the Community Services Officer series. This class is distinguished from the Community Services Officer II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series who will receive more direct supervision and guidance to complete tasks. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same level of independence and judgment beyond routine matters with established procedures and guidelines compared to the II level.
Community Services Officer II
:
This is the journey level class within the Community Services Officer series. Employees at this level receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This level is well versed in the operating procedures and policies within the assigned work unit. Positions in this class are normally filled by advancement from the Community Services Officer I level.
Community Services Officer I: Immediate Supervision is provided by the Administrative Coordinator, or his/her designee, except for Code Compliance, which falls under the Administrative Sergeant. Assignments may include indirect supervision of part-time staff.
Community Services Officer II: General Supervision is provided by the Administrative Coordinator, or his/her designee, unless Code Compliance, which is supervised by the Administrative Sergeant. Assignments may include indirect supervision of full- or part-time civilian staff.
Depending on assignment, Community Services Officers I/II may perform duties in the following areas:
Records- Answer telephones and provide counter assistance to the public.
- Copy and release requested reports as appropriate in compliance with established confidentiality rules and regulations; collect appropriate fees.
- Process court orders and voluntary bookings. Provide Live Scan fingerprinting to the general public.
- Process and cancel warrants and subpoenas. Run name checks and warrant checks for Officers and other agencies.
- Assist in crime scene identification activities. Perform fingerprinting, photographing, and log duties.
- Assist in the collection, preservation and transportation of evidence.
- Maintain chain of custody records. Inventory and release evidence and property in accordance with the law.
- Research modern methods of crime prevention as practiced through the law enforcement community.
- Develop program outlines and materials for presentations to neighborhood and community groups.
- Engage the public through the use of social media, Department web page, and print to disseminate crime prevention strategies and materials.
