Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners in patient care in ambulatory setting.
- Recognize normal and abnormal signs/symptoms and provide support during life‑threatening emergencies.
- Perform basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services under supervision and training requirements.
- Required:
- Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program (ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, ABHES).
- National certification issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT.
- At least 10 clock hours of training in venipuncture, skin tests, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomology and life‑threatening medical problems.
- Ability to administer CPR; oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.
- Proficient venipuncture with OSHA PPE safety requirements.
- Accurate vital signs, drug refills, and patient sample testing for waived tests.
- Computerized patient care systems competency.
- Medical terminology knowledge; EKG performance.
- Interpersonal, verbal communication skills; courteous and compassionate interaction.
- Assist new staff orientation; order medical and clinical supplies; maintain inventory.
- Follow policies, procedures, communication and work standards; organize tasks for smooth workflow.
- Schedule patient referrals to specialists.
- Flexible front‑office/back‑office workflow.
- Assist physician with audiometry, spirometry, O2 levels, skin tag/mole removal, ear lavage, colposcopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy.
- Safety requirements for biohazardous specimens; MSDS and emergency treatments.
- Work overtime in emergencies; punctual; attendance record.
- Excellent customer service; harmonious work atmosphere.
- Physical ability to push, pull or carry 30 lbs or more.
