As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing an exceptional, caring experience. You will operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices and effective communication, demonstrating genuine care and contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Upon hiring, you will complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing and certification requirements according to your State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until you have completed all necessary requirements duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Add to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt moments at pick‑up, drive‑thru and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services at the register and via phone; and solving or escalating patient problems with compassionate care.
- Perform basic inventory activities, as permitted by law and directed by the pharmacy leadership team, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, accepting feedback, seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and actively pursuing learning.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, traveling to stores in the market as assigned.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy protection.
- Deliver additional patient health‑care services—such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing and volunteer staffing of off‑site clinics—where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document as applicable.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy regulations regarding age, education, and licensure/certification.
