Primary Purpose
Assist in the integration, accountability, and maintenance of campus technology hardware and software.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/Certification:
High School diploma or GED (Recognized by Texas Education Agency or Regional Accrediting Agency).
Industry certifications preferred
Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Experience/Knowledge/
Skills:
Exceptional customer service skills
Knowledge of technology terminology and concepts
Knowledge of appropriate use of hardware components, operating systems, software applications, and networking component Know how to perform basic application functions
Knowledge of specific instructional technology configurations and setups.
Knows how to select, connect, and use a variety of input, output, and storage devices and peripherals
Knows how to access, manage, and manipulate information from secondary storage devices.
Ability to work with students and teachers effectively

The campus technician promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
- Assist teachers and students in the use and integration of a variety of campus technology, including but not limited to, computers, printers, mobile devices, digital cameras, document cameras, LCD projectors, student response systems, learning management systems, and instructional software.
- Work cooperatively with teachers to assist with technology integration in the classroom.
- Maintenance and support of campus technology to support instruction
The technology assistant works to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following:
- Maintain physical and computerized files on the inventory of campus software programs.
- Maintain campus inventory with responsibility of recording and maintaining accurate asset records in the district asset management system.
- Install a variety of computer programs following technical documentation.
- Assist with and coordinate district technicians for maintenance and repair of technology equipment. Assist with the installation, inventory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of district equipment.
- Work with the Technology Department to coordinate technology maintenance.
The technology assistant works to promote a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:
- Promote clear communication of technology processes involving technology tools check-out/check-in and setup for instruction.
- Promote and assist with clear communication regarding technology support systems.
- Provide support to the community with information about technology initiatives, goals, and access to campus technology.
The campus technician participates in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:
- Participate in campus and district technology staff development, faculty meetings, special events, and training programs to improve job performance.
The technology assistant exhibits qualities such as the following:
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform the supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
- Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform any duties as assigned by the administration and the Department of Technology.
