- Operate and maintain advanced mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair essential equipment such as gas and steam turbines, generators, heat‑recovery steam generators, pumps, compressors, and water treatment systems.
- Support balance‑of‑plant auxiliary equipment to keep everything running smoothly.
- Perform piping and conduit installation for system upgrades and modifications.
- Operate demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components.
- Inspect watch‑on of each system within the plant.
- Maintain equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, and gauges.
- Clean, replace, oil, and lubricate other component parts and equipment as required.
- Read meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels; verify water chemistry to confirm operating conditions.
- Perform general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facility’s appearance, including painting projects as required.
- Work on capital projects and/or major programs as assigned by Plant Management.
- Coordinate purchasing with appropriate personnel and vendors to achieve timely repair of plant equipment.
- Operate and maintain a Combined Cycle power‑generating facility equipment with minimal guidance or assistance, in coordination with LOMT.
- Identify and resolve CEMS problems, assist in calibrations and gas bottle change‑outs.
- Keep O&M Manager and/or LOMT fully informed of unusual plant conditions and current job progress when on‑shift.
- Order chemicals through established vendors.
- Utilize the facility’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Assist with opening and closing circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation.
- Participate in outage planning and scheduling.
- Assist with development of Operations and Maintenance procedures.
- Assist with administering the Operator training program.
- Assist with performing root‑cause analysis of failures.
- May operate heavy equipment such as man lift and forklift.
- Perform water chemistry analysis on HRSG, auxiliary boiler, and cooling tower systems; adjust water chemistry, as needed, by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates.
- Operate demineralized water system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures and monitor demineralized water quality.
- Read, understand, and comply with all regulatory procedures and facility safety programs; follow all plant environmental permits.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, and written records.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Can read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one‑lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&’s.
- Writes routine reports, solves practical problems, and clearly communicates tasks and needs, including training of other personnel.
- Mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment knowledge required.
- Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment, applying possible solutions in a timely fashion.
