Description
The Machinist I is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the manual and CNC milling and turning centers used to manufacture orthopedic implants, instruments and tooling. The Machinist I fabricates the component according to specified requirements for materials, dimensions, surface finish/treatment, and marking.
The Machinist I is responsible for performance of the following quality system functions in accordance with documented procedures:
- Observance of safety measures at all times when operating or servicing the machines, including eye‑protection, proper attire, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Fabrication of orthopedic implants, instruments and tooling in a timely, cost‑effective manner.
- Part marking in accordance with the engineering specifications for the component.
- Performing preventive maintenance of the machines and shop area.
- Storage and segregation of controlled manufacturing materials and product, including material certifications.
- Production and rework router processing.
- Ensuring that all equipment and gages used for in‑process inspection is properly identified and calibrated.
- Routing of product complaints and investigation / resolution of corrective / preventive action, as necessary for proper functioning of the quality system.
- Completing Device History Record (DHR) documentation.
- Complete all required and compliance training.
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
This position requires the following qualifications (at a minimum):
- 0‑2 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of manual and CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- Ability to operate CNC machines with little or no direction.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of the applicable product and quality system requirements.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of safety measures to be observed at all times when operating or servicing machines.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to use a computer for data entry, complete time sheets and communicate by email.

The expected base salary range for this position is between $24.00‑26.00 per hour and the compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications.
