Chain Pullers (Production Line Laborers) Wanted!! (Entry Level - Day Shift) This is a non‑exempt position at an hourly rate of $24.87 and includes full benefits:

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and All weather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas‑fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA.
Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25‑megawatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.
The Chain Puller is responsible to pull lumber from a moving chain and place in units according to specie, grade, length, and width in a safe and productive manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pull lumber from moving chain, and ensure lumber is straight on ends and is stacked properly
- Place lumber in units according to specie, grade, length, and width
- Push out lumber carts when full
- Operate a small chop saw used for end trimming
- Assist with changeovers
- Assist with bar‑coding on a rotational basis
- Assist with general clean up when chain is not running
- Keep work area clean

Qualifications- Keep area clean at all times
- Willingness to work weekends and off shift dependent on market conditions
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum six months related experience preferred
- Ability to train to obtain forklift certification.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and understand instructions and memos.
- Ability to write simple sentences.
- Ability to learn to accurately identify lumber by specie, grade, size, etc.

Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate tools, equipment, and controls, and perform repetitive motions such as gripping.
- The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, especially when performing maintenance on equipment located in tight or low‑clearance spaces. (may need to be specific to each role)
- The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand and maintain balance, particularly when working on elevated platforms or accessing machinery at height.
- The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, either independently or with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include:
Close vision (e.g., inspecting machine components);
Distance vision (e.g., monitoring operations);
Color vision (e.g., identifying wire colors and indicator lights);
Peripheral vision;
Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus - The employee is occasionally required to detect odors, such as smoke, gas, or burning materials, which may indicate safety hazards.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration from machinery such as saws, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, including sawdust, lubricants, fumes, and welding smoke.
