Responsibilities- Assists and teaches residents self-care, self-administration of medications, and independent living skills, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and nail care; assists and trains residents in activities of daily living and household activities.
- Maintains safety and supervision of residents at all times.
- Implements Behavior Plans and Health Care Plans.
- Member of the Interdisciplinary Team in designated aspects of the ISP/IPP outcomes and overall programming for residents.
- Assists residents in occupational, recreational, vocational, and therapeutic programs.
- Maintains a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment which promotes respect and dignity and protects privacy and wellbeing of residents.
- Engages residents in activities that provide opportunities for learning and practice of skills tailored to the resident’s needs.
- Assists and teaches residents in the constructive use of leisure time, and encourages participation in planned recreational activities.
- Actively supervises during dining, recreational activities, medical and other appointments; reports whereabouts of residents at all times.
- Transports residents in the company vehicle to medical, recreational and/or other appointments.
- Attends staff meetings, in-services and training sessions; maintains required trainings and certifications as required by regulations and Elwyn California.
- Reports and documents behavior/medical concerns and other incidents to proper supervisory personnel.
- Remains on duty until relieved by incoming staff.
- Maintains quality assurance standards and promotes Elwyn California goals and objectives in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with staff to create a professional and amiable atmosphere; encourages teamwork.
- Adapts to changes in workload.
- Assists with health care and/or behavioral needs and documents appropriately.
- Completes assigned work in a timely manner and uses time effectively.
- Gives feedback to Program Administrator and/or shift lead regarding issues affecting home operations and resident care; notifies changes in care needs immediately.
- Seeks help and guidance from co-workers and/or shift lead as appropriate.
- Responds to emergencies as directed by health/behavior plans, regulations, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid RBT certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire or be a Licensed Psychiatric Technician or a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional.
- Minimum 1 year prior experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities with a focus on behavioral services preferred.
- Successful completion of all trainings as required by applicable regulations.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license in state of residence, have a minimum of two years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record.
