The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership and is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as the overall operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the store, supervise associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep a clean work area, and execute and supervise company operational processes as required.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Be responsible for security of building including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance devices, Cash Office security, and armored carrier pick‑ups and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety through accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times; recognize associates via company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensure all associates adhere to it.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Be responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
- Receive merchandise truck when needed.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Handle receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Keep stockrooms clean and organized.
- Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor when processed.
- Ensure back‑stock is secured and processed to company policy.
- Manages merchandising of departments including back‑stock.
- Work to reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Handle floor moves, signage, and promotional signing as needed.
- Perform re‑wraps as necessary.
