LocationCalifornia, MD (Pax River Naval Base)
Responsibilities- Performs routine aircraft maintenance functions
- Demonstrates operational knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, engines and component parts
- Operates aircraft towing equipment in towing operations
- Maintains aircraft hydraulic systems
- Uses hand tools properly in aircraft maintenance
- Reads, writes, and interprets aircraft maintenance procedures, manuals, specifications, and directives, guides and forms used on the job
- Knowledge of composite repairs
- Corrosion prevention and treatment
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections on aircraft and systems/subsystems
- Performs troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and systems/subsystems
- Serves ground support equipment and performs preventive maintenance inspections on all ground support equipment
- Uses blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, manufacturers drawings and sketches
- Completes maintenance documentation accurately using OOMA and required forms as assigned
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a primary MOS from any of the following Occ Flds: 6153 Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services or possess valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification
- Proficiency in the use of OOMA within 90 days after assignment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Aviation Structural Mechanic Core
- Aviation Structural Mechanic Organizational Level course
- Tire and wheel qualification
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and base access
- USN/USMC experience preferred
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds
- Must pass fit-for-work physical and/or drug test as required
- Able to work in areas with awkward postures, bending, kneeling, squatting, including working overhead
- Must work at height in the hangar and on the flight line
- Must be able to man and perform Flight line Extinguisher duties
- If required, must pass a DOT physical and operate Powered Industrial Trucks
- If required, must pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2–4 hours
- If required, must perform confined space activities
- Travel may be required
