MANTECH is seeking a versatile and highly organized professional to join our software development team as a Software Testing and Documentation Specialist for Vulcan Flight Deck to support the KC‑130J health monitoring system. This onsite role involves ensuring the quality and functionality of our software through rigorous testing and creating clear, comprehensive technical documentation for various audiences. You will support our customers at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
The position is based on‑site in California, MD.
- Develop, document, and execute comprehensive functional test plans and test cases based on business and system requirements of Vulcan Flight Deck.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including analysis, testing, and deployment by working closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts throughout the agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) to define project requirements and technical solutions.
- Assist in Vulcan Flight Deck Authorization to Operate (ATO) development.
- Author and edit documents in support of software development, to include Software Requirements Specifications, Risk Management Framework documentation, Software Development Plans, Vulcan User Manuals, Test Reports, and others.
- Develop and maintain documentation for agile software development processes, such as user stories, functional descriptions, and release notes.
- Produce end‑user documentation, including user manuals, help guides, and frequently asked questions (FAQs). Create visual aids, such as diagrams and screenshots, to enhance user understanding of materials.
- Coordinate and manage documentation peer review quality assurance process in support of software development, to include Software Requirements Specifications, Risk Management Framework documentation, Software Development Plans, Vulcan User Manuals, Test Reports and maintain technical documentation to include document version control and quality assurance.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally, as needed to support customer needs.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR a High school Diploma/GED and an additional 3 years of software related experience.
- Experience with the Navy Risk Management Framework (RMF) and developing ATO‑related documentation.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and capable of performing functional and quality assurance software testing.
- Editing and proofreading technical materials for accuracy and clarity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Must complete a software tester certification course and/or Training Qualification within 90 days of being on contract.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a talent for translating complex technical concepts into accessible language.
- Familiarity with Agile developments methodologies.
- Personal projects or internship experiences in Software testing and development.
- Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Secret clearance.
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co‑workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
