It is the primary responsibility of the K-5th Grade Teacher to assist the students assigned to the class in their mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical development by means of instruction, counseling, discipline, and support. Instruct 3rd-5th grade students on technology skills according to the K-12 California Computer Science Standards. This includes, but is not limited to keyboarding, computational thinking, word processing, and digital citizenship.
This is primarily a discipleship role.
REQUIREMENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Facilitate student learning.
- Manage grading and gradebook.
- Plan, teach, and evaluate lessons and student activities.
- Evaluate and reflect on student progress.
- Conduct parent conferences as required.
- Conduct report card evaluations.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Counsel students as required.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized classroom.
- Attend training and in-service days as required.
- Cover supervision duties as assigned.
- Monitor student behavior and discipline as necessary.
- Have a vast knowledge of various Web 2.0 applications. Examples:
Kahoot, EdPuzzle, Google Apps for Education, Padlet, etc. - Maintain a clean environment in the computer lab. Wipe down equipment as needed.
- Report any misuse of technology to the proper outlets.
- Keep track of the laptop cart and iPads, making sure they are properly charging.
- Exhibit proper classroom management unique to a computer lab environment.
- Perform formative and summative assessments of each student using that information to adjust each week’s lessons.
- Manage student log-in information to various curriculum websites.
- Administer STAR Reading assessments to students in grades 3-5.
- Support with lunch and recess duties as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned, including up to performing the duties of a substitute teacher.

A bachelor’s degree. - Credential:
State teaching credential strongly recommended. - Credential: ACSI teaching credential required if state credential is not valid. If candidate hasn't completed either credential, he or she must be willing to complete ACSI credential during employment.
This position’s duties are normally performed in a standard work environment based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort is required; therefore, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she may be required to walk or sit for extended periods and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight.
Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and other similar machines.
