The Engineering Analyst II performs engineering analyses supporting the design, development, testing, and validation of experimental, prototype, production parachutes, deployment systems, and related components. This position develops computational models, evaluates system performance, interprets test data, and prepares technical documentation to support program objectives and customer requirements.
The Engineering Analyst II works independently on moderately complex assignments and collaborates with design engineering, test engineering, program management, manufacturing, quality, and other technical functions. The position may provide technical guidance to less experienced team members but has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
Specific
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Perform engineering analyses support of the design, development, testing, and validation of parachute systems and related components.
- Develop and apply computational models, simulations, analytical methods, and engineering tools to evaluate system and component performance.
- Analyze aerodynamic, structural, dynamic, and mechanical behavior under anticipated operating and environmental conditions.
- Develop analytical approaches and technical solutions that satisfy customer specifications, contractual requirements, and program objectives.
- Support proposal and bid activities by preparing technical concepts, preliminary analyses, estimates, and related documentation.
- Evaluate design alternatives, identify technical risks, and recommend practical solutions based on analytical results.
- Correlate analytical predictions with laboratory, ground, flight, and qualification test data.
- Review and interpret test results, identify performance trends or anomalies, and recommend additional analysis or corrective action, as appropriate.
- Prepare engineering calculations, analysis reports, technical presentations, specifications, and other program documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, test readiness reviews, and customer presentations.
- Collaborate with design engineering, test engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and business development throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of engineering analysis methods, models, processes, and tools.
- Verify the accuracy of analytical inputs, assumptions, calculations, and results and maintain appropriate technical records.
- Ensure assigned work complies with applicable customer requirements, industry standards, Company procedures, and configuration-control requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to Engineering Analyst I employees and other team members, as assigned.
- Manage assigned priorities, schedules, tasks, and deliverables with limited supervision.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Follow company rules and procedures.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline from an accredited institution required.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant engineering analysis, modeling and simulation, or aerospace product development experience required.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of engineering principles related to mechanics, dynamics, aerodynamics, structural analysis, and system performance.
- Proficiency with engineering analysis, modeling, simulation, and data-processing tools.
- Experience with software such as FORTRAN, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Mathcad, finite element analysis tools, computational fluid dynamics tools, or comparable applications is preferred.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and validate mathematical and computational models.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test plans, technical reports, and customer requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to technical accuracy and detail.
- Ability to clearly and accurately document assumptions, methods, results, limitations, and conclusions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet program deadlines.
