As a Manufacturing Engineer at Ontic, you'll play a key role in supporting our production operations, solving manufacturing challenges and helping us continuously improve how our aerospace products are built. You'll work at the intersection of Engineering, Production and Quality, turning technical requirements into practical manufacturing solutions that support quality, efficiency and delivery. You'll provide hands-on engineering support to the production floor while also looking ahead at how our processes can be improved.
From troubleshooting assembly and test issues to developing manufacturing plans, designing tooling and supporting engineering changes, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on day-to-day operations. You'll also lead engineering activities for new products entering production, working across teams to help ensure a smooth transition from design into manufacturing and supporting Ontic as our product portfolio continues to grow.
This role requires approximately 50% travel for the next 18 months to support business and engineering needs. Candidates should be comfortable with this level of travel as an essential requirement of the position.
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to production, troubleshooting manufacturing, assembly and test issues to minimize disruption and maintain product quality.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that increase manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste and optimize cost.
- Translate engineering drawings, specifications, prototypes and change requirements into practical manufacturing methods, tooling, materials and processes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing plans, work instructions and Bills of Materials for new and modified products.
- Design assembly and test tooling, fixtures and shop aids using Solid Works to support production and testing activities.
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities for new product introductions, supporting the transition of products from design into production.
- Support controlled engineering changes and participate in Material Review Board activities to resolve nonconforming material and manufacturing issues.
- Travel approximately 50% for the next 18 months to support engineering, operational and business requirements.
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent discipline is preferred.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience working with electromechanical products.
- 5+ years of aerospace manufacturing, planning and fabrication experience, including experience with products such as AC/DC motors, actuators, hydraulic pumps, valves, electromechanical components, engine components, compressor assemblies or accessories.
- Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, special processes and specifications related to precision aerospace components and systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, with knowledge of design and drafting practices and geometric tolerancing.
- Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement solutions in a production environment.
- Experience working across Engineering, Production, Quality, customers and suppliers to deliver against technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% for the next 18 months.
