The Upper Feather River watershed, an area of both ecological and economic importance as the headwaters of the State Water Project, the home of most of California’s wolf packs and other rewilding indicator species, a biologically, elevationally, and climatically diverse region, is one that has significant gaps in protection and thus many conservation opportunities.

Our small but mighty non‑profit is the leading public lands conservation organization in the region.

Friends of Plumas Wilderness, based in Quincy, CA seeks an Executive Director. This full‑time salaried position requires a person strongly committed to conservation with a passion for protecting public lands. The multiple skills we are looking for include strategy development and campaign planning, team and organizational leadership, fundraising experience, finance and operations, and highly developed communication skills.

Depending on your experience, salary is $70,000 to $80,000 with paid time off, plus a health, dental and vision insurance stipend (50% of premium) and a 3% Simple IRA. A one‑time Workplace Transition Bonus may be provided at the successful completion of a 90‑day probationary period, and a housing stipend may be provided for up to 6 months.
