We are seeking volunteers to monitor nesting boxes in 12 locations across Shawnee, including parks and recreational trails.
During nesting season (March through August), Johnson County Extension Master Naturalists will mentor volunteers.
Responsibilities- Check and monitor nesting boxes approximately weekly during March–August.
- Enter monitoring data online using a smartphone.
- Work collaboratively with other Bluebird Steward volunteers in your area.
- Attend and support training sessions.
- Age 16 or older (or accompanied by an adult).
- Comfortable with a smartphone and online data entry.
- Commitment to weekly monitoring during March–August.
- New volunteers must attend a mandatory training on a Saturday in February 2026 (date, time, location TBD).
- Past volunteers may attend optionally and receive first choice for area assignment.
