Step into a pivotal role as a Registered Nurse in Med Surg, where your expertise will shape recovery, comfort, and hope for patients across a spectrum of medical needs. This travel assignment invites you to bring precision, empathy, and leadership to a dynamic Med Surg team in Alturas, California, with the added opportunity to experience the vast beauty and diversity of the Golden State and beyond.

Start date is 01/05/2026, with assignments measured in weeks and extensions built around your performance, preferences, and the needs of our partner facilities. Weekly pay ranges from $2,298 to $2,479, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week, ensuring solid continuity as you plan your next chapter. In this role, you’ll have the chance to impact patients at every stage of their hospital journey, from acute stabilization to post‑acute recovery, while continuing to develop your technical proficiency, clinical judgment, and patient‑centered communication.

Location

and Travel

Alturas sits at the edge of the Modoc County landscape, a place where open skies meet rugged terrain. Working here means daily opportunities to connect with a close‑knit community that values dedication, teamwork, and compassionate care. Beyond the hospital walls, California unfolds in breathtaking ways: the majesty of Lassen and the Sierra Nevada rising in the distance, the tranquil routes along lakes and forests, and small‑town charm that gives you time to recharge after demanding shifts.

The region offers a genuine sense of place—an ideal backdrop for nurses who recognize that healing comes from both skillful care and a restorative environment. And for those who crave broader horizons, the program provides pathways to placements across the United States, expanding your professional network and enriching your nursing perspective with diverse patient populations and clinical settings.

Compensation and Hours

Weekly pay ranges from $2,298 to $2,479. Guaranteed hours of 36 per week. Guaranteed continuity for future assignments and 24/7 relief if you’re assigned to relieve a traveling RN. Guaranteed assignment lengths in weeks (two or more) with leave per assignment.

Benefits

Immediate access to a welcoming community and a facility that prioritizes patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and collaborative care. Housing assistance and per diem options, designed to ease relocation and help you focus on delivering excellent patient outcomes. With the prospect of assignment extensions, you can build continuity with colleagues and communities you grow to love.

Role Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, administer medications, initiate IV therapies, manage complex drains and lines, and coordinate with physicians on evolving treatment plans.
  • Contribute to safe patient transports, timely documentation, and meticulous rounding that anticipates patient needs.
Professional Growth

Clear opportunities for professional growth—pursue specialty certifications, refine triage skills, and take on mentor roles to support new staff and travel teammates. We recognize the value of incentive programs, including a sign‑on bonus, housing assistance, and the chance to extend your assignment based on performance, hospital demand, and your own professional goals.

Support and Travel Assistance

24/7 support while traveling with the company, ensuring containment of concerns, access to resources, and seamless coordination for admissions, transfers, and emergencies, no matter the hour.
