Job Description

  • Assist the Physician to monitor and document the health status of residents receiving IMS services to include: physical exams, vital signs, rating scales, medication inventory and storage, activities and lab results.
  • Decide when a resident requires emergency or urgent medical care.
  • Document and organize the medication storage and inventory and keep compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training to facility staff on proper techniques of obtaining vitals and documenting residents self-reports of pain and other symptoms.
  • Provide ongoing training to facility staff on proper techniques of observing and documenting residents self-administration of medications, both prescription and over-the-counter.
  • Be the primary point-person for communication between the doctors, pharmacies and facility staff.
  • Receive and follow-up on resident test results in a timely fashion. Send to the Health Care Practitioner for review.
  • Complete Client Health Questionnaire (DHCS 5103) and pre-screening evaluations within 24 hours of admission and notify the Physician when completed
  • Make a referral for placement if the resident does not meet the criteria for IMS services.
  • Monitor and document the health status of residents receiving IMS services to include: physical exams, vital signs, detox rating scales, medications, activity level and lab results.

    • Job Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse in good standing in the State of California.
  • Knowledge and working experience dealing with detoxification medications and substance-use treatment residents.
  • Work within the professional scope of licensing.

  • Current Certificate of Completion:
    First-Aid AND CPR
  • Current TB Test Results (1 year for skin test and 2 years for x-ray)
