Job Summary

As a Foreperson, daily duties will include leading, organizing, planning and direct operations for projects and at a crew level, working within the vegetation management & tree trimming industry. Duties will be performed within the minimum approach distance of energized utility lines and critical infrastructure. This position is responsible for project management and personnel management.

• $45.76/hr - Union Rate
• $47.90/hr w/CDL - Union Rate

• Organize, schedule and lead a crew to complete projects and tasks
• Must maintain certification and qualifications to work within the minimum approach distance of energized electrical lines
• Draft, compile, and complete required documents, spreadsheet, or forms
• Must be able to think critically, problem solve and make independent decisions
• Perform risk and hazard assessment, apply risk mitigation procedures or techniques
• Perform conflict resolution among supervised individuals and/or customers
• Train, instruct and lead a crew in proper utility tree work and vegetation management methods
• Safely operate tree trimming related equipment - saws, lifts, chippers, trucks, etc.
• Communicate with crew, management, vendors, and customers
• Maintain knowledge of the industry best practices and safety requirements
• Work well within a team to complete projects and tasks
• Must be able to work outdoors, year-round in varying environments
• Must be able to work in, around and amongst poisonous plants and noxious vegetation
• Other tasks as required

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma
• Experience:
  
  2-3 years of experience in Utility line clearance and Right-of-Way (ROW) vegetation management operations
• ISA Certified Arborist or ISA Certified Utility Arborist (ISA) or Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP)
• Valid Driver License

• Commercial Drives License:
  Class A or B
• Qualified Applicator License (QAL)
• Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC)
• TRAQ Certification
• Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences

• Extensive experience and understanding of tree trimming
• Comprehensive understanding of tree trimming techniques and application to utility ROW work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lead crews: layout daily plans, direct crews, manage jobs, manage schedules
• Ability to operate equipment and vehicles related to vegetation management activities
• Ability to utilize Mac/Ipad/apple devices
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, ArcGIS, Collector/Field Maps
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI and other applicable safety requirements related to tree trimming
• Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI and other applicable safety requirements related to equipment operations

• This position is expected to travel to project sites and locations within California (Operating Area)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Sites can be very hot and dusty.
