Position Summary: The Tree Trimmer is responsible for performing skilled arboricultural tasks, including pruning, trimming, and removing trees and shrubs to maintain the safety and aesthetics of public spaces. This role involves operating various equipment, ensuring public safety, and collaborating with team members to uphold the city's landscaping standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tree Maintenance: Prune and trim trees and shrubs to remove dead or excess branches, ensuring clear right-of-ways for roads, sidewalks, and utilities.
• Tree Removal: Safely remove dead or hazardous trees using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain tools and machinery such as chainsaws, brush chippers, aerial lift trucks, and stump grinders.
• Climbing: Climb trees using safety equipment to access and work on high branches.
• Site Safety: Set up safety signs and cones around work areas to protect the public and team members.
• Debris Management: Clear sites of debris, including loading branches and logs into trucks for disposal.
• Inspections: Assess trees for diseases, pests, or structural issues and report findings to supervisors.
• Public Interaction: Communicate with residents regarding tree maintenance activities and address any concerns.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: Previous experience in tree trimming, arboriculture, or related field preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license; certification in tree trimming or arboriculture is a plus.
• Skills: Proficiency in operating tree maintenance equipment, knowledge of safety protocols, and effective communication skills.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting heavy equipment, and working in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:The position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, exposure to heights, and the use of hazardous equipment. Safety protocols must be strictly followed to prevent accidents and injuries.
