Job OverviewFAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send independent contractors to perform the inspections. The purpose of the property inspection is to:
- Verify property occupancy.
- Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Scope of WorkWe contract with inspectors at a county level. You would be responsible for all inspections in your county, and in some cases you may split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume.
Responsibilities- Complete most inspections in 5–6 minutes.
- Finish the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile app.
- Be prepared to spend extended periods driving with multiple stops during the day in your assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will pay for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can expect to earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working roughly 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set minimum number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
