Overview
Basic Life Research Scientist (1 Year Fixed Term) – Stanford School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology, Ross Laboratory. The laboratory studies normal and malignant stem cells in the context of aging and cancer. The Research Scientist will design and execute projects, lead scientific efforts, mentor junior lab members, and contribute to grant applications and progress reports. This is a 1-year fixed-term position with possible renewal based on funding, performance, and operational needs.
Responsibilities- Lead scientific projects, design and execute experiments, and analyze/present data.
- Assist other lab members with experimental design and execution; mentor junior personnel.
- Participate in training and development of students and post-doctoral fellows.
- Ensure efficient lab operations, including budgeting, equipment care, and regulatory/administrative compliance.
- Prepare scientific sections for grant applications and progress reports; report to the PI.
- Contribute to multiple projects and scientific/written progress towards manuscripts and grants.
- Oversee lab operations and maintain regulatory and administrative requirements.
- Attend weekly lab meetings and contribute to the research program.

- Attendance at weekly lab meetings
- Contribute to multiple projects and scientific/written progress toward grants and manuscripts
- Oversee lab operations, budgeting, equipment care, and regulatory/administrative compliance
- Ph.D. in stem cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, or related field.
- Post-doctoral experience in stem cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, or related field is preferred.
- Extensive experience with molecular biology, mouse handling and procedures, flow-cytometry analysis and cell sorting, mammalian cell culture, RNA-sequencing, and microscopy.
- Experience in genetic manipulation of cells (e.g., CRISPR) is desired.
- Additional experience in computational biology is welcome.
- Ability to independently design and troubleshoot experiments.
- Excellent communication and organization skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Graph Pad Prism, R, and related tools.
The expected pay range for this position is $74,000 to $86,000 per annum.
