Bar Supervisor (Full-Time) – Dr. Wilkinson's Backyard Resort & Mineral Spring – Calistoga, CA – PM Hotel Group

The House of Better provides guests and locals with Southwest‑inspired food and elevated counter service in a playful backyard setting anchored by a wood‑fire oven. Located on the grounds of Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort & Mineral Springs, the property offers iconic mud bath and spa treatments, healing mineral pool soaks, and the best of Calistoga right outside its doors.

Responsibilities
  • Follow procedures to ensure the security of liquor, bar inventory, equipment, and monetary transactions; balance the drawer at shift end.
  • Order and replenish supplies, inventory, uniforms, and other supplies in a timely manner; minimize waste and breakage.
  • Schedule employees and enforce policies and procedures; monitor performance and recommend disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained on basic bar practices, product knowledge, and certification requirements.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
  • Greet guests pleasantly as they approach the bar; promote house drinks and upsell skills whenever possible to maximize revenue.
  • Prepare beverages requested by guests; adhere to established pouring standards and drink recipes to control costs.
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption; notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition.
  • Set up bar including all liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies; perform pre‑ and post‑shift side‑work.
  • Inspect bar daily for cleanliness and attractiveness; sweep and mop bar floor after shift and wipe down counters, equipment, stools, chairs, tables, and other areas as required.
  • Conduct monthly inventory and ensure beverage costs are in line with allocated costs each month.
  • Track spending against product performance on the revenue side; report all waste and submit invoices in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with GM and Sales to execute events in the bar or within campus; create and maintain weekly bar activations to draw the public and drive revenue.
  • Ensure that the POS is properly accounted each night and that all tickets and spillage are accounted for.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and perform other tasks, including cross‑training, as directed.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous bartending experience, including experience in a cocktail‑bar setting.
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit.
  • Ability to think on your feet and work calmly under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules including weekends.
