Position Summary

This position collects, compiles, inputs, and manages information and data pertaining to tribal natural and cultural resources. This position supports the efforts of all programs within the department in carrying out the Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation’s management responsibilities of stewardship of trust and non‑trust resources.

All Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation employees must submit to a background check and abide by all Tribal, federal, and state laws. All employees must comply with Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation drug‑free workplace policy and will be subject to pre‑employment, random, for‑cause, and post‑accident drug and alcohol testing. Qualified American Indian Preference applies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Program Managers with field work, data entry, and data analysis.
  • Collect data on ecological factors, habitats, and species within the aboriginal territory.
  • Collect GPS data pertaining to natural, cultural, and wildlife resources.
  • Enter data into prepared templates.
  • Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas.
  • Assemble, calibrate, clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate project equipment as needed.
  • Assist with plant production efforts.
  • Ability to work alone or accompany staff in performing site visits, collection of field data, and site surveys.
  • Assists and participates in various resource‑related field surveys.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as directed.
  • Assist with data creation for tribal projects.

Job Specific knowledge is listed below:

  • Knowledge of the history, culture and organization history of the Tolowa Dee‑ni' Nation and the Tolowa people.
  • Knowledge related to traditional stewardship methods and the Tolowa Dee‑ni' ancestral territory boundaries.
  • Knowledge of local plant and wildlife species.
  • Knowledge of landscapes, ecosystems, cultural and natural resources.
