About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geologist to join their dedicated energy exploration team in Welkom . This role is integral to identifying and assessing potential subsurface resources, contributing vital geological expertise to the company's exploration strategies. You will be responsible for interpreting complex geological data, developing exploration models, and guiding field exploration activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in structural geology, stratigraphy, and resource estimation, with a proven ability to work effectively in both office and remote field settings.

- Conduct geological mapping, core logging, and subsurface data analysis for energy resource exploration .
- Develop and refine geological models to predict resource potential and optimize drilling programs.
- Interpret geophysical and geochemical data to delineate promising exploration targets.
- Plan and supervise geological field surveys and sample collection activities.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and other geoscientists.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geological exploration , with a significant focus on the energy sector (oil, gas, or critical minerals).
- Expertise in geological data interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Leapfrog) and GIS.
- Strong understanding of sedimentary basin analysis, structural geology, and 3D modeling techniques.
- Proven ability to manage exploration projects and mentor junior geologists.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
