Supervises: No direct reports

Under general supervision, the Landscape Small Engine Mechanic repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power landscape equipment, compressors, generators, pumps, and similar machines in accordance with trade standards. The employee is responsible for preventative maintenance, inspection, and minor/major repairs of landscape equipment, while maintaining related records through computer programs.

• Diagnoses and repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, weed whackers, chainsaws, blowers, chippers, edgers, snow removal equipment, and similar tools/equipment.
• Performs regularly scheduled maintenance on landscape equipment.
• Performs on‑road repair and towing of disabled equipment to the shop.
• Uses hand tools, locates causes of trouble, dismantles engines, and inspects/examines parts for defects.
• Replaces or repairs parts such as rings and bearings.
• Cleans and adjusts carburetors and magnetos, starts repaired engines, and listens to sounds to test performance.
• Occasionally performs maintenance welder job duties, where required.
• Assists landscape manager with taking vehicles to service shops and transporting equipment or vehicles between sites.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Minimum three years related work experience; five years preferred.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to respond to questions from vendors, customers, and management.
• Compliance with PRIDE’s safety program and adherence to proper safety practices.

High School Diploma or GED.

Valid Driver's License (and other local, state, or contract certifications as required).

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

• Walking and standing.
• Stopping, bending, and crawling.
• Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

The majority of work is performed in a shop environment and employees may be exposed to exhaust fumes, potentially hazardous materials and/or fluids, noise from equipment, and varying weather conditions (wind, rain, cold, and heat) when performing roadside assistance or towing disabled vehicles.
