DEPARTMENT: Indian Child Welfare Program PAY RATE: $24.00 - $38.00 hourly DOE HOURS: Monday - Friday, Full-Time, 40 hours per week REPORT TO: Tribal Business Administrator
Child and Family Services Director- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationship with members of the community, parents and program staff.
- Serves as a representative of the Indian Child Welfare office to the community.
- Provides intervention services, which include initial intake, assessment, counseling and referrals to legal assistance or professional counseling.
- Provides referral information to other social services resources as needed, such as out of home placements per agreements between the Tribes and State Child Protective Services under P.L. 280.
- Provides overall case management and record keeping.
- Tracks and coordination effort of various resources needed to help the families.
- Implements and oversees all ICWA advocacy activities as well as overseeing the general operation of the ICWA Program.
- Acts as Chief Liaison in assisting parents involved in ICWA proceeding to meet requirements for reunification per set agreement between the Tribe and any department of social services of any county.
- Reports on program activities and contract objectives to the Tribal Council on a monthly and annual basis.
- Provide quarterly reports with all data and statistical information of program to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
- Assists the Tribal Business Administrator and Advisory Board in the formulation of annual budgets and scopes of work as required for the continuation of funding.
- Provides coordination of Native American oriented education regarding sexual abuse, child abuse prevention and parenting for parents in the ICWA system and the tribal community.
- Must work with local County Social Services workers.
- At least two year Associate of Arts or Science degree in Sociology or related field.
- At least one year work experience with a social services agency in child custody cases and/or Indian Child Welfare Program services.
- Working experience with a Child Protective Services agency department that has worked with ICWA cases.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license and proof of insurance for own personal vehicle.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening (within 14 days of hire) and random drug testing thereafter.
- Must pass criminal background check and fingerprint check with the FBI & physical examination.
