Pay Range: $17 - $20 per hour (DOE)

The Lifeguard/WSI teaches safe and effective ಸ್ಟಾಲು à group and/or private swim classes for members, maintaining educational standards in line with Active Wellness’s commitment to aquatics safety.

• Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with Active Wellness instructional guidelines.
• Plan lessons, select appropriate drills and evaluate students' progress.
• Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
• Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
• Attend all in‑service training.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
• Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught at all levels.
• Effectively communicate each student's progress to the student directly or to parents where appropriate.
• Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance.
• Work as a TEAM with all other departments.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Inventory of food items as Adviser to locker and laundry service.
• Identify between three and eight primary duties and responsibilities for the position.
• Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness.
• Promote club services and activities.
• Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean.
• Attend Active Wellness site meetings and training.

• Lifeguards must maintain the following certifications:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or equivalent).
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent).
  • American Red Cross First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or equivalent).
• Performance test requirements:
  • Swim 300 yards continuously.
  • Tread water for two minutes using legs only.
  • Demonstrate proper use of rescue equipment.
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool and retrieve a 10‑pound brick.
  • Perform aquatic rescue & CPR/AED skills.
• Must be detail oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings.
• Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry.
• AED/CPR/First Aid Certified.
• Proof of citizenship or legal status.

• Ability to take responsibility for the health and safety of others.
• Ability to stand for several hours during a shift; lift 25 lb.
• Work in a fitness club environment.
• Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards.
