Mission of the Community Relations Division
The mission of the Community Relations Division is to increase community engagement and effective communication with the Camarillo community, by providing direction and support to City departments in the development and implementation of the City’s Community Engagement Strategy.
Summary Description
The Community Relations Division supports the City Manager's Office by managing social media programming, Cablecast content, website updates, and providing essential administrative support, while fostering community engagement and effective communication.
The Position
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and creative professional with strong communication and collaboration skills. They will play a key role in supporting the City Manager’s Office, specifically the Community Relations Division, by managing social media programming, Cablecast content, and website updates, while providing essential administrative support. This individual will be adept at creating engaging social media posts and graphics, scheduling content through Hootsuite, and producing advertisements for the government channel using Cablecast and Canva.
The candidate will coordinate newsletter submissions, draft articles for the monthly digital City Scene Newsletter, and maintain a citywide stock photo library to enhance messaging. The candidate will support the Community Relations Officer in ensuring accuracy and consistency across departmental webpages and assist with community engagement efforts by supporting events and outreach activities.
The position requires a proactive learner who is comfortable using digital tools and eager to develop technical expertise in platforms such as Cablecast, Canva, and Hootsuite. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all City departments are essential, as the role involves frequent interaction with staff and the public. A passion for clear communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to enhancing the City’s outreach and engagement will set the ideal candidate apart.

Writing Sample Requirements
- Submit one (1) writing sample.
- The sample must be no more than two (2) pages in length.
- The writing sample must be the applicant’s original work.
- If the sample was produced collaboratively or edited by others, the applicant must clearly identify their specific contribution.
Failure to upload a writing sample attachment by the Final date to receive applications may result in disqualification from the recruitment process.
