Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contract/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment, in accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5.
Where you’ll workMoorpark College is one of three colleges in the district. It serves approximately 15,000 students and has a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. The campus offers programs across transfer, basic skills, and career education, including biotechnology and related fields.
Representative Duties- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance-mediated settings.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, transfer options, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.
- Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and outcomes; submit data and reports timely.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials and order materials as needed to ensure timely delivery.
- Revise and update course content in line with new theory, applications, and industry developments; update syllabi and collaborate on measurable outcomes.
- May participate in curriculum and program development and in meetings; may participate in articulation and matriculation activities; may provide work direction to others.

Minimum QualificationsCandidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook. A bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or engineering, and two years of full-time related professional experience; OR the equivalent; OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
If you hold a master’s degree, professional experience is required and must be directly related to the teaching assignment. An official transcript is required upon hire. All coursework must be from an accredited institution. If your education was completed outside the United States, a foreign transcript evaluation may be required.
