Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating their academic or vocational objectives. In accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5, Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment.

Representative Duties- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking through assignments in various instructional settings.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, higher education opportunities, lifelong learning resources, and study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.
- Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials to ensure timely delivery.
- Revise and update course content in line with new theory and developments; update syllabi and assess measurable outcomes.
- Participate in curriculum and program development; may participate in committees and meetings; may engage in articulation and matriculation activities; may provide work direction to others.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsCandidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.
Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, Mass Communication OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication OR the equivalent; OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
