At Sandvik, we’re passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology, and we want you to be part of that journey. We’re looking for a Systems Engineer on the Battery Controls team, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and verifying complex electrical and embedded systems from concept through production. This role requires a blend of strong systems thinking, requirements development, and hands-on hardware skills.
You will create and manage system requirements, work closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and regulatory needs, and perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of electronic circuits and integrated systems. The ideal candidate will excel at bridging high-level system architecture with low-level hardware validation, thrive in a collaborative environment, and ensure that all technical decisions are well-documented and traceable.
You’ll Be Doing (and Why You’ll Love It)
- Develop and manage system and sub-system requirements, specifications, and interface documents.
- Define system architecture, electrical interfaces, and high-level design documentation.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on PCB, wiring harness, electromechanical integration, and embedded software.
- Develop test plans, procedures, and reports for both bench-level and system-level testing.
- Lead root-cause analysis, ensure design traceability, and verify compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Support manufacturability, cost, and reliability objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CE, ISO).
- Document technical decisions and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in project requirements or timelines.
- Works independently with little to no supervision.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, electrical hardware development, or embedded systems integration.
- Proven track record creating and managing system requirements and performing hardware testing at the circuit and system level.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence, Eagle) and electrical test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers).
- Experience with battery systems, power electronics, or embedded control systems is highly desirable.
- Ideally familiar with safety standards such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849, particularly in the context of embedded systems.
- Great Pay & Benefits – We offer a competitive salary between $111,000 -$130,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and more.
- Work-Life Balance – We understand the importance of life outside of work. Our flexible paid time off, wellness programs, and parental leave options help support your personal needs.
