Job Title: Integrations Engineer
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr
Role OverviewJoin a mission‑driven public sector technology team serving a community of over 200,000 residents across multiple departments, including public safety, utilities, and civic services. This organization is undergoing a major digital modernization effort, connecting legacy systems, streamlining data flows, and improving the reliability of critical city‑wide technology infrastructure. As an Integrations Engineer, you’ll be the go‑to technical expert ensuring that hundreds of applications communicate seamlessly to support daily operations that directly impact residents’ lives.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain backend integrations across 300+ applications using Python, Django, PHP, and SQL.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with vendor‑managed systems where source code access may not be available, using APIs, middleware, and data pipelines.
- Create, optimize, and document database structures (MS SQL Server, MySQL) for data consistency and performance.
- Develop and manage RESTful APIs and ETL workflows to connect legacy and modern systems.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT leadership to diagnose problems and coordinate fixes.
- Ensure system integrity and compliance with government data security standards (including CJIS).
- Write clean, maintainable code with clear documentation and unit testing.
- Operate autonomously in a highly unstructured “team‑of‑one” environment, driving problem‑solving from start to finish.
- Recommend tools, process improvements, and best practices for long‑term scalability and modernization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Full Stack and/or Integration Engineer with strong backend focus.
- Deep proficiency in Python, Django, and PHP for backend development and REST API design.
- Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming and design patterns.
- Experience with SQL‑based databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL) and database optimization.
- Skilled in debugging, documentation, and unit testing.
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments (public safety, utilities, government).
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows (Git Flow).
- Experience with ETL tools and data transformation frameworks (e.g., SSIS, Apache).
- Frontend familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or Vue.js.
- Understanding of API protocols (SOAP, REST, HTTPS) and security best practices.
- Background in hybrid technical/business analysis roles or legacy system modernization.
