- Perform laboratory experiments related to the development of robust upstream processes for manufacturing human therapeutic proteins produced in recombinant mammalian cells and bacteria.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments at laboratory scale, including shake flasks, spin tubes, scale-down bioreactor systems (Am ), and bench-top reactors (Applikon).
- Develop and characterize scaled-down models for upstream unit operations.
- Ensure accurate laboratory data entry, maintain lab facilities, and prepare reports.
- Support the identification and optimization of alternative laboratory methods and equipment to improve efficiency and throughput.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of analytical techniques and relevant scientific literature.
- Keep the Team Leader and Project Manager informed on project status and any circumstances that may alter scope or timelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with cell culture techniques, including handling, aseptic technique, cell counting, media preparation, pipetting, centrifugation, and filtration.
- Knowledge of protein expression technologies.
- Experience in cell culture process development and Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus.
- Knowledge of bacterial fermentation is a plus.
- Practical experience in cell culture demonstrated through presentations or publications.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems and participate in idea generation.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Team player with the ability to manage multiple projects and plan activities effectively.
