Store Assistant Manager

Overview

Store Assistant Manager (F/T) at Steve Madden. The Store Assistant Manager works with the Store Manager on all store operations and guides, develops, and motivates a team of brand advocates to deliver an exceptional customer experience aligned with the company’s brand values.

• Partner with the Store Manager to maximize profitability by ensuring customer engagement, merchandising, operations, and community connection are consistent and compliant with company standards.
• Create amazing customer experiences through strong client focus and collaboration, ensuring the team is motivated to deliver memorable experiences.
• Partner with the Store Manager to implement visual merchandising directives to maintain the company’s brand strategies.
• Ensure appropriate replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
• Partner with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and procedures, standards, and company directives.
• Assist in store operations, including training, operations, sales, visual merchandising, inventory management, store administration, cleaning duties when necessary, and customer service.
• Foster an environment of development and accountability.
• Process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.
• Assist Store Manager in the selection and hiring of qualified candidates.
• Be flexible and occasionally perform work outside your specific role.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate people, resources, and services to address business goals and needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Understanding of how to develop staff with experience in staffing, coaching, counseling, etc.
• Ability to process information or merchandise through the computer system and POS register system.

The pay range for this position is $18-$23/hr plus commission. Actual rate will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, years of experience, and other job-related factors. This range does not include benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and 401K, if applicable.
