Procurement Lead
Location:
Camberley. Reporting to:
Procurement Manager. Travel: up to 20% domestic, 10% European.
- Select and onboard new suppliers aligned with our commodity strategy.
- Provide timely pricing and lead‑time responses to support customer quotations.
- Negotiate and award supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with commercial, planning, scheduling and New Product Introduction requirements.
- Validate and verify new supplier parts to ensure quality and compliance.
- Support the Materials and Planning team with ongoing purchasing and issue resolution.
- Work closely with suppliers, engineering and production to drive swift resolution of quality concerns.
- Ensure supplier adherence to ISO
9001 and other relevant standards. - Support cost estimation and ensure financial accuracy according to company standards.
- Consistently meeting cost, quality and delivery performance metrics.
- Strong customer service mindset and reliable continuity of supply.
- High-quality supplier relationships and measurable performance improvement.
- Experience managing Electronic, Electrical or related commodities in a regulated, design responsible environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering requirements and supplier flow-down.
- Ability to audit suppliers and coach them through improvement initiatives.
- Skilled negotiator with strong analytical capability.
- Confident communicator able to simplify complex issues into clear summaries.
- Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel).
- Ability to travel (20% domestic, 10% European).
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Experience in regulated sectors (Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, etc.).
- Knowledge of Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA).
- Basic financial understanding.
- Experience managing supplier quality issues.
- CIPS Level 3+ (or working towards).
- Experience in a design-and-build manufacturing organisation.
- Understanding of international trade rules.
- Experience with MRP2, Lean MRP or Demand‑Driven Supply Chain concepts.
- ISO
9001 Internal Auditor qualification.
- Takes initiative and drives tasks to completion.
- Is resilient, adaptable and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Enjoys solving problems and seeing the bigger picture.
- Builds strong relationships and communicates with clarity.
- Learns quickly and thrives in changing environments.
