Aboutthe Role
The Council is looking to recruit someone who is interested in furthering their career in Local Government and able to help us to deliver a high-quality service by providing professional support and advice on tree preservation including contributing to planning applications, appeals and other related arbor cultural and landscape issues.
The successful candidate will assist in the analysis of submitted planning applications and supporting information, to determine the impact and inform the planning decision making process and provide advice and guidance to planning officers.
About YouThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they have either experience or qualifications to deal efficiently and effectively with Tree Preservation Orders, tree work applications, High Hedges and Conservation Area Notices of Intent. The role would particularly suit someone who is looking to build on their existing landscaping and arboriculture knowledge. The successful candidate will be looking to learn and develop in the following areas:
- Negotiation of improvements to applications and attach appropriate conditions
- Understanding and communicating risks associated with applications relating to protected trees
- Understanding the value trees bring to communities
- Helping to maintain the landscape profile and character of the Borough.
Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have an interest and the ability to interpret planning policy and relevant legislation and have excellent communication and organisational skills.
