Job Overview
Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse – Part time Substantive 18.5 hours over 2 days in the Outpatient Department of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated registered nurse with varied clinical experience to join the senior Outpatient team. The Outpatient team is passionate about continuously improving service and delivering high quality care, and seeks committed individuals with excellent organisational and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Band 6 cover for a 6‑day service at specified outpatient locations, ensuring capacity and flow are managed effectively.
- Deputise for the Senior Sister and Matron, taking on the role of Bronze Command in their absence, maintaining an organised and structured workforce.
- Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and RN competencies, ensuring best practice is followed at all times.
- Lead the nursing team, acting as a visible, dynamic, and professional role model for others, demonstrating exceptional clinical competence.
- Inspire and motivate the team, leading change initiatives and promoting excellence in nursing practice, empathy, and professionalism.
- Support, supervise, and assess learners, students, new, temporary, and junior staff within the department.
- Collaborate with Practice Development teams to support the progression of registered nurses and health care support workers, ensuring they practice competently and advance in their roles.
- Take responsibility for consolidating, enhancing, and broadening your own clinical knowledge and skills, and further your professional development.
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current UK NMC registration.
- Supporting Learners in Practice (SLIP) or similar recognised qualification.
- Educated to Nursing Degree level or on degree pathway.
- Level 6 leadership course.
- Yellow Badge Training (Lean Competency System).
- Significant experience in an acute healthcare Trust.
- Nurse in charge training.
- Evidence of previous Band 6 experience.
- Experience with in an outpatient setting.
- Able to prioritise workload and effectively manage a clinical area.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to manage conflict and stressful situations.
- Effectively facilitate the supervision and assessment of learners and junior staff.
- Excellent computer skills – Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word.
