Psychiatric Nurse – Share

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Supervisor Interdisciplinary Practice or its designate, the incumbent will serve as the sole professional registered practitioner in the community, providing specialized services to individuals with mental illness, concurrent disorders, addictions, and suicide ideation or attempt. The candidate will act as a point of contact for physicians locally, territorially, and out of territory for assessments and patient critical care information.

• Provide clinical direction and front‑line service in the community.
• Develop and implement care plans for patients.
• Manage case coordination, including conferencing and ongoing assessments.
• Administer and monitor medication regimens.
• Deliver crisis intervention services.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members.

• Undergraduate degree in Nursing with experience in mental health, or an undergraduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse.
• Eligible to register with a professional government body in good standing and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
• Five years of psychiatric nursing experience is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence required.
• Successful completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
• Acceptable combinations of education and experience that are equivalent to the above requirements may be considered.

For full‑time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year. For job shares, bonuses/allowances are pro‑rated in accordance with hours worked.

• Tier One allowance of $10 per hour premium is available to full‑time, permanent, and job‑share employees in the following communities:
  Coral Harbour, Naujaat, Cambridge Bay, Kugaaruk, Taloyoak, Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Sanirajak, Iqaluit, Kimmirut, Qikiqtarjuaq, Resolute Bay.
• Tier Two allowance of $15 per hour premium is available to full‑time, permanent, and job‑share employees in the following communities:
  Arviat, Baker Lake, Chesterfield Inlet, Gjoa Haven, Grise Fiord, Igloolik, Kinngait, Kugluktuk, Pangnirtung, Pond Inlet, Rankin Inlet, Sanikiluaq, Whale Cove.
