Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking Full or Part‑Time Emergency Physicians to join our Emergency Department, located in Cambridge, Ontario.
Job DescriptionCMH operates a 190‑bed community hospital with an acute care emergency department that sees 110–150 patients daily (approximately 50,000 per year). The department runs six 10‑hour shifts per day. Each shift begins with duties in the acute region followed by a transition to the sub‑acute area. New physicians are scheduled alongside experienced physicians, and during peak volume hours most shift hours feature significant physician overlap.
The ED is equipped with a 12‑bed ICU (24/7), 24/7 x‑ray and CT, ultrasound 15 hrs/day, and MRI 12 hrs/day. The department is supported by internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, pediatrics, psychiatry, oncology, and external specialties such as urology, ENT, spine surgery, plastic surgery, and nephrology.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care in both the acute and sub‑acute areas of the Emergency Department.
- Attend six daily 10‑hour shifts, working primarily during peak volume hours with physicians from other specialties.
- Collaborate with ICU, internal medicine, surgery, and specialty teams to manage patient care.
- Participate in patient handover and care coordination, ensuring continuity across shifts.
- FRCPC or CCFP‑EM credential preferred.
- Physicians without formal EM credentials but with significant emergency medicine experience may be considered.
- Ability to work full or part‑time schedules in a high‑volume setting.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision‑making skills.
Positions are remunerated through a generous Alternate Funding Arrangement (AFA) with shadow billing. Additional details are available upon request.
