Position Overview:
As our Manufacturing Engineer, Intermediate you will develop and improve manufacturing procedures, maintain quality-compliant shop documentation, resolve non-conformances, and support shop operations through equipment and facility maintenance, upgrades, installations, and tooling design. You will work closely with manufacturing operations within the Component Engineering department, reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, while occasionally interfacing with upper management and customers and providing coaching, guidance, and process training to peers and shop employees.

Your Day to Day as our Manufacturing Engineer, Intermediate:

  • Develop and maintain shop documentation, routings, and procedures for Fitting, Welding, Machining, Assembly, and Testing.
  • Resolve non-conforming product issues, working with quality, sales, and suppliers to ensure technically and commercially sound solutions.
  • Plan and schedule shop activities, establish realistic time standards, and conduct time studies to optimize performance.
  • Maintain databases of tooling, gauges, consumables, and past practices to support efficient operations.
  • Conduct pre-manufacturing product reviews, identify required tooling, and support design adjustments and procurement.
  • Design and draft tooling and equipment, including rigging plans and strength analysis, to support safe and efficient shop activities.
  • Lead projects of increasing size and complexity, including process improvements and overhauls for similar applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline; P.Eng. is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; self-motivated and a collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge of machine guarding (CSA standards) and experience applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, nuclear industry experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD 2D or Solid Works 3D (or similar design software).
