Waste Water Maintenance Trainee

Begin your wastewater career with the City of Cambridge as a Waste Water Trainee, focusing on preventative maintenance. Engage in vital infrastructure tasks while gaining hands-on experience within Environmental Services.

In the role of Waste Water Trainee, you will work on the Preventative Maintenance Crew under the supervision of licensed Wastewater Operators. Your responsibilities will include operating various equipment and performing CCTV inspections on wastewater and stormwater systems. Additional activities include detailed sewer main flushing and the investigation of spills, while working in all weather conditions during fixed shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance on wastewater systems

• Operate combination vac/flusher trucks for sewer cleaning

• Conduct CCTV camera inspections of infrastructure

• Investigate spills and bylaw infractions surrounding sewer use

• Clear debris from stormwater infrastructure

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent education

• 6-12 months of work-related experience

• Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license

• OIT-WWC license for Waste Water Collection

• Ability to handle various maintenance tools
