Major Duties
Under broad, general guidelines and policies, has responsibility for driving strategic sourcing activities globally for Cambridge Life Sciences. Responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives in support of Cambridge Life Sciences outsource manufacturing strategy. Work closely with all General Managers, divisional Materials Managers and Buyers to drive adoption of the Strategic Sourcing Process globally.

Accountability

Year over year reduction in materials and third party equipment costs.

Total customer satisfaction of all internal operations groups.

Excellent relationships with all major suppliers.

Specific Responsibilities

Establish clear procurement policies and procedures to guide supply chain management towards long‑term business objectives.

Drive manufacturing outsourcing strategy to low cost countries to achieve lowest cost at best quality and delivery for manufactured components.

Develop strategic targets and goals based on industry trends.

Benchmark with external peer level executives to assess “best in class.”

Drive ATS procurement performance to be “best in class.”

Guide supply chain personnel on business impact and supply market complexity.

Develop appropriate strategies to ensure applicability, successful implementation and optimization of supply chain systems and successful completion of mission critical projects (i.e. SAP, JD Edwards or similar).

Develop manufacturing partners locally and in low cost countries to support ATS needs.

Coach procurement personnel on supply chain initiatives to support the strategic plan.

Approve recommendations on the optimal sourcing strategies and ensure high‑level buy‑in from key stakeholders.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve supply chain processes globally for Cambridge Life Sciences.

Ensure best practices are shared at all levels and divisions.

Meet with affected peers to discuss issues common across procurement areas.

Project Management

Develop high‑level global project plans, identifying key deliverables and roles/responsibilities of team members.

Establish and manage a project budget.

Obtain buy‑in from key stakeholders on plans and budget.

Execute plan, communicating relevant project information to stakeholders.

Coach supply chain personnel in analysis of industry and their work with suppliers to set performance targets.

Establish a process to communicate issues and performance against targets.

Identify nonvalue‑added activities across a broad range of suppliers and oversee development of programs to reduce waste and improve effectiveness of both processes and information flow.

Develop a solid, trusting relationship at executive levels of suppliers aimed at driving strategic value.

Qualifications

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in business or materials management is required, MBA is preferred.
