Job Title: Load Planner
Location: Cambridge, ON
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour + vacation pay
Type: Temporary (6 months with possibility of extension)
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (5 days onsite)
Training: 6–8 weeks, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Kelly Services is hiring on behalf of our client in Cambridge for a Load Planner role. This position is responsible for coordinating and optimizing transportation operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective movement of goods across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and optimize daily shipments, routes, and carrier assignments
  • Manage transportation using company assets and third-party carriers
  • Improve trailer/container utilization and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Secure carrier capacity during peak periods and manage transportation constraints
  • Support recovery efforts during delays, disruptions, and service issues
  • Maintain accurate records in Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Act as the main contact between Distribution Centers, Customer Service, and Transportation teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, transportation regulations, and company policies
  • Monitor transportation performance and support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
  • Experience working with carriers, 3PLs, or brokerage operations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query)
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as Trimble Truck Mate or Blue Yonder
  • Strong understanding of transportation and freight planning
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations (HOS, DOT/MTO, cross-border where applicable)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service focus and continuous improvement mindset

Additional Information:

  • Retail, grocery, or high-volume distribution experience is an asset
  • Experience with rate negotiation is preferred
