Aecon is focused on identifying, attracting, and hiring talented and diverse workers to work in our Cambridge Fabrication Shop and we are currently seeking a Sand Blaster to support projects at this facility.
While you do not need to be a journeyman sandblaster to apply, we do expect applicants to have some training with the heavy equipment, grinding tools, and power tools that you use during this process. In addition to operating the blast booth and unloading the cabinet, you may also be asked to help with painting or coating tasks after you have successfully removed the unwanted substances from the surface.
Successful applicants must become members of the United Association union local 527 as a Metal Trades Worker.
What You’ll Do Here:- Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built‑up material from surfaces.
- Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment.
- Load and unload the blast cabinet.
- Assist with painting or coating as needed.
- Apply and remove non‑skid materials as needed.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the classification and Collective Agreement, as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Previous sandblasting experience or training.
- Experience working with or removing heavy metals a plus.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions using power tools and blasting equipment.
- Work is primarily performed in a fabrication shop environment and may include exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, as required, in all seasonal and weather conditions.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection.

The expected pay range for this role is: $20/hr - $35/hr
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
