Position Overview  The Machining Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving machining manufacturing processes in support of safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. The position ensures machining‑related documentation aligns with BWXT’s Quality System requirements, evaluates and resolves non‑conformances, and provides technical support to machining operations. This role contributes to tooling and fixture design, continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.

On-site, Cambridge, ON
Your Day-to-Day as Manufacturing Engineer – Machining   Prepare machining routings including operation sequences, tooling, fixtures, equipment requirements, materials, and quality standards.
Resolve machining-related non ‑ conformances by reviewing drawings, specifications, and customer requirements; prepare repair instructions and condition reports.
Develop, update, and support machining procedures (CNC, manual machining, deburring, inspection setup).
Establish and maintain machining time standards by reviewing historical performance data and conducting time studies.
Maintain machining tool, gauge, and setup documentation databases, including photos and instructions.
Conduct manufacturability reviews; identify required tooling/fixtures, provide concept sketches, and support procurement.
Design jigs, fixtures, and tooling, including basic strength evaluations.
Support procurement, installation, and commissioning of machining equipment.
Lead medium ‑ scale projects appropriate to the intermediate level.
Occasionally interface with management and customers.
Mentor and review work of junior team members and co ‑ op students.
Provide shop ‑ floor support and training on machining processes and documentation.
Lead improvements to machining processes for recurring or similar parts.

Required Qualifications   Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
3–5 years of machining‑focused experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Hands‑on experience with CNC machining processes, cutting tools, setup methods, and machining optimization.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions.
Knowledge of CSA machine guarding requirements.

Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Experience with AutoCAD 2D and Solid Works (or similar CAD) (desired).
