Position: Quality Engineering Technologist (Mechanical)

As a global leader in radiation safety, detection and measurement, Mirion Technologies is advancing radiation safety through innovative technologies and solutions.

The primary function of the Quality Engineering Technologist is to ensure compliance to product quality as defined by the customer, code or other specifications through proper translation into working documents. The requirements are to be met per the Mirion Technologies (IST Canada) ULC Quality Manual, in a cost-effective way while also fulfilling the demand of the overall schedule.

This position fills an existing vacancy.

Essential Duties
  • Ensure that the quality of the product being shipped meets customer requirements.
  • Represent Quality Engineering at the contract level.
  • Generate Quality Plans and Quality Engineering Plans for each contract as required.
  • Implementation and input of the Quality Procedures Manual.
  • Generate documents (procedures, inspection and test plan, quality control charts, history dockets, acceptance test reports, special process qualification programs, etc).
  • Review and approve drawings, bills of material, special process procedures and process documentation.
  • Handle non-conforming materials by suitable disposition, conduct MRB meetings and define and implement corrective action.
  • Review and approve purchase orders, material certifications and releases.
  • Identify customer requirements and ensure through planning quality engineering activities they are met.
  • Develop new techniques and establish training programs for them.
  • Approve test results and troubleshoot testing problems.
  • Design quality control fixtures and review and approve manufacturing fixtures.
  • Identify need for process auditing on a contract basis.
  • Expedite approval of quality documents by the customer.
  • Maintaining the “Approved Vendor Lists” .
  • Maintaining the Nonconformance Database.
Other Duties
  • Conduct vendor audits and special investigations.
  • Provide input for customer quotes.
  • Compile updated summaries for each contract.
  • Organize the Quality Engineering activities to fulfill overall schedule requirements.
  • Perform the quality engineering filing and file organization as required.
  • Monitor costs for assigned contracts and indirect work without exceeding budgeted/quoted costs.
  • Perform related duties and complete special projects as assigned
Responsibilities – Safety & Quality

  • All Cambridge employees play a role in the implementation of the site Quality and Safety Policy, which outlines a safe work environment as the foundation for the business unit’s goal to create a positive customer experience.
Contact
  • Frequent contact with quality, engineering and manufacturing personnel.
  • Frequent contact with vendors and customer quality representatives.
Direction
  • Perform duties under the guidance of the Quality Supervisor, while working from policies and general objectives.
Education & Experience Requirements

EDUCATIONAL

  • Diploma from an Engineering Technologist program or an equivalent, that provides knowledge of a technical field such as chemical, electrical or mechanical engineering
Experience
  • 5 years experience in inspection activities relating to quality control.
  • Experience in the maintenance and implementation of a quality system conforming to ISO 9001 (minimum) with preference to NQA-1 or CAN CSA /N299.2.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
Other Requirements
  • Proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office .

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
