Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Description Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping, receiving, and warehouse functions to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of goods.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supervise, schedule, and coordinate shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel to meet operational goals.

Oversee the loading, unloading, inspection, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.

Verify accuracy of shipments, bills of lading, packing slips, and purchase orders.

Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and transportation regulations.

Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular cycle counts.

Work closely with production, purchasing, and customer service to support on-time deliveries.

Select and coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and courier services.

Train and mentor team members on proper material handling, safety practices, and company procedures.

Investigate and resolve shipping/receiving discrepancies or damage claims.

Enforce workplace health, safety, and housekeeping standards in the warehouse.

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Prepare and maintain performance reports on shipping accuracy, turnaround times, and carrier performance.

Follow all Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.

Educational Requirements:

Post Secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.

Required Skills & Expertise:

Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge of freight carriers, logistics documentation, and customs processes (if applicable).

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Proficiency with ERP systems, warehouse management software, and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and manage a team.

Ability operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (license/certification may be required).

Valid G drivers license

Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:

Forklift experience (counter balance)

ERP experience (Visual Manufacturing)
