Senior Transportation Planner (12 Month Contract)

Your Role
The Senior Transportation Planner is responsible for designing and implementing efficient transportation strategies to enhance the delivery of flour products. This role involves analyzing transportation needs, optimizing routes, and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure seamless operations. The position requires the ability to manage all planning areas, including both bulk and palletized deliveries.

Day to Day

Manage the planning team and provide/organize coverage for all Transportation Planners as needed, including time‑off coverage.

Monitor on‑time pickup and delivery performance for both private and third‑party logistics (3PL) fleets.

Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize the movement of products from milling facilities to distribution centers and customers.

Manage all bulk railcar movements including direct to customer & intercompany.

Collaborate with supply chain, warehousing, and production teams to align transportation planning with overall business objectives.

Coordinate with third‑party logistics providers to ensure cost‑effective and efficient transportation solutions.

Prepare and present reports on bulk rail performance, including key delivery metrics and efficiency improvements.

Required Qualifications

Logistics certification or equivalent experience preferred.

Transportation planning/dispatch experience with private and 3PL fleets in manufacturing or distribution.

Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Proficient in TMS and Microsoft Office.

Effective communicator with knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
