About the Role

Dorchester and Caroline Counties. 🕒 Job Type: Full‑time / Part‑time. 💰 Salary Range: $20 - $25 per hour. 🎯 Experience

Required:

1-2 years working with youth or behavioral health.

We are seeking compassionate 1:1 Support Staff to provide direct supervision and emotional support for youth in out‑of‑home care in Dorchester and Caroline Counties. Based in the Cambridge area, you will work 1:1 with children and adolescents in homes, schools, and community settings. Your role will be to de‑escalate conflicts, encourage positive behavior, and ensure a safe, trauma‑informed environment. This is a contract‑funded position under the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support youth on a 1:1 basis
  • Use crisis de‑escalation techniques and positive reinforcement
  • Assist with daily activities, behavior coaching, and emotional support
  • Maintain daily progress notes and documentation
  • Ensure youth safety and adhere to mandated reporting requirements
Requirements
  • 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience OR Associate’s degree + 1 year in human services
  • Background check and fingerprinting required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends as needed
Required Training (Upon Hire)

Preferred at hire, but required during onboarding:

  • CPR and First Aid
  • Crisis Prevention/De‑escalation (CPI or equivalent)
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Trauma‑Informed Care
  • HIPAA / Confidentiality Awareness
  • DHS‑specific onboarding

Training reimbursement or support available.
